Our Talent

Mary McBride

LanguageInsights team member Mary McBride has taught in the US and overseas in Singapore, Dubai and Japan. She has worked as a reading specialist, resource and classroom teacher and private tutor. Mary has home-schooled both gifted and challenged students. Currently she is a Literacy Coach in a Chicago suburb.

Mary has provided teacher training workshops, classroom model lessons and has developed curriculum. She holds an advanced Orton-Gillingham certification and a MA in Special Education in Learning Disabilities.

Ellen Meyer

LanguageInsights team member Ellen

Meyer brings an expertise in

phonology, etymology and morphology

and holds an advanced certification in

Orton- Gillingham. She has presented

numerous workshops for

administrators, teachers and parents.

Currently, she is a trainer and 

consultant in a Chicago suburb.

Ellen excels in working with dyslexic

and learning disabled students. She

currently serves as an active board

member of Everyone Reading Illinois.

Of late, the words <metonym> and

<ennui> have sent Ellen into deep

word investigations.

We provide practical solutions for achieving success in literacy. We have 20+  years combined experience in classroom and intervention settings. We are experienced trainers of English Language Learners. Our expertise is in developing reading, writing and spelling along with critical thinking.

Peter Bowers, PhD, is the founder of the WordWorks Literacy Centre in Ontario, Canada. For most of his ten years as an elementary school teacher in international schools and in Canada, Peter shared the common view that English spelling is highly irregular and full of exceptions to be memorized.
